🌅 A Galveston Welcome
My first evening was spent at Miller’s Seawall Grill, savoring gulf shrimp and an indulgent slice of key lime pie that reminded me why I always make room for dessert. The next morning began with a peaceful beach walk and a satisfying breakfast at Grand Galvez—there’s no better place nearby to dine west of the hotel by foot, so I embraced the convenience.
An Uber ride to the cruise port ($14.95 all in) wrapped up my stateside prep.
🚢 Day 1: Embarkation
Boarding the Norwegian Prima was smooth, and the anticipation bubbled up as I stepped into my home on the sea. I booked a solo cabin that had access to the solo lounge and I took advantage of the fresh coffee and snacks every morning.
🎉 Day 2: Sea Day & Birthday Bliss
What better way to celebrate my birthday than aboard a ship cutting through Caribbean waters? I toasted the day with sizzling flavors at Teppanyaki, thanks to my More at Sea specialty dining package. Showmanship and steak—an unbeatable combo.
🇲🇽 Day 3: Costa Maya Adventures
In Mahahual, I took a buggy ride that wound through local villages and culminated in a tequila “sales presentation.” Lunch at a serene beach stop offered fajitas that were bursting with flavor. The buggy ride itself? A thrill and a half. I booked the excursion through Norwegian Cruise Line
🏖️ Day 4: Harvest Caye, Belize
This private island paradise offered the perfect beach day. I lounged, swam, and soaked up the Belizean sun without a care in the world.
🐒 Day 5: Roatan Rescue & Relaxation
Originally booked for an ATV and Beach excursion with Norwegian, I had to pivot due to age/weight limits—and I’m glad I did. NCL rebooked me to the Maya Cay Private Beach & Rescue. The peaceful island, filled with rehabilitated animals (like the monkey I got a photo with!), was a heartwarming and tranquil escape. Bonus: two protected beaches and a pool, plus lunch included.
🏖️ Day 6: Cozumel Crowds & Paradise
Docked at Punta Langosta, I made my way to Paradise Beach booked directly with them online ($68 total). The city was bustling—six ships in port—but I scored an umbrella spot effortlessly as a solo traveler. A $25 taxi ride there, and a savvy $10 share ride back with two other beachgoers added a fun social twist. I helped guide them through Cozumel’s maze-like port area, proving that cruising solo doesn’t mean flying solo.
🛳️ Day 7: Return to Galveston & Fond Farewells
Back on board for one last day at sea, I took in panoramic ocean views and savored every final moment—whether it was a lazy brunch, a stroll around the deck, or that last dip in the pool. Packing was bittersweet, but as the ship glided toward Galveston, I was already dreaming of my next adventure.
✨ Final Reflections
From shrimp and sunrises in Galveston to monkey rescues and Maya magic, this cruise was packed with moments that made me smile, reflect, and reconnect with the joy of exploration. Norwegian Prima delivered an unforgettable experience—at sea and beyond.
